Company History

It was in 2000 that Fine Arts Developments changed its name to Findel Plc and Premier Education Ltd became Findel Education.

In 1962 a greeting card company named Fine Arts Development was founded, its principle activities were the design and manufacture of greetings cards and wrapping paper sold via mail order.

In 1989 Fine Arts Development entered the educational supplies market under a new division, Premier Education Ltd with the acquisition of Hestair Hope. A mail order company that had been supplying schools and colleges with educational equipment since 1898. This brand is now known as our Classroom brand, Hope Education, retaining some of the heritage from Hestair Hope.

Then in 1993 Premier Education Ltd acquired Galt Educational, an educational stockist who specialised in supplying classroom furniture, it’s origins dated back to 1839. Again, wanting to retain the strong heritage of the brand, Galt is still going strong today.

In 1999 Premier Education Ltd expanded further with the acquisition of Step By Step an educational supplier focussed on  early years resources for ages 0-7.

More acquisitions followed in 2001 when Novara Group, a rival educational supplies business was acquired adding the brands NES, Philip Harris/Unilab, EDCO and Davies Sports to our portfolio.

The business continued to grow with the acquisition of AtoZ and WNW Supplies (Wirral and North Wales)  in 2003, marking the beginning of our School brands.

These were followed swiftly in 2004 by the acquisition of LDA  (Learning and Development Aids – a specialist brand that focuses on providing educational aids to schools who specialise in educating pupils with varieties of SEN/special educational needs), along with our largest School brand, GLS (Greater London Supplies).

In 2007 Findel Education then aquired Philip and Tacey, a company which specialised in the overprinting of exercise books, and school bags.
